Principal Investigator
Chae, John, B.S.E., M.E., M.D.
"My research interests are in the areas of stroke mechanisms and rehabilitation, and neuroplasticity and motor relearning. My active projects include:
- Assessing the efficacy of EMG-controlled neuromuscular stimulation in enhancing the upper extremity motor recovery of stroke survivors.
- Assessing the efficacy of EMG-controlled neuromuscular stimulation in enhancing the lower extremity motor recovery of stroke survivors.
- Elucidating the relationship between abnormal EMG activation patterns in the hemiparetic lower limg and clinical measures of lower limg motor impairment and mobility.
- Assessing the effects of EMG-triggered neuromuscular electrical stimulation with simultaneous contraction of the contralateral limb versus EMG-triggered neuromuscular electrical stimulation alone on EMG activation patterns in upper limb hemiparesis."
