Principal Investigator
Knutson, Jayme
My research interests are in the application and clinical evaluation of novel neuroprosthetic and neurotherapeutic electrical stimulation devices to restore motor function in individuals with CNS paralysis. Neuroprosthetic devices substitute for lost neurological function; neurotherapeutic devices facilitate recovery of lost neurological function. My current research activities focus on:
- A pilot study investigating whether chronic stroke survivors with upper extremity hemiparesis recover voluntary hand opening after a unique treatment with surface stimulation.
- Implementation of an implanted myoelectrically controlled upper extremity neuroprosthesis in chronic stroke survivors with upper extremity hemiparesis.
