FUNCTIONAL ELECTRICAL STIMULATION
The Cleveland FES Center has central engineering laboratories located on the Case Western Reserve University campus for design and construction of neurostimulation devices. These facilities are used for technology development activities.
This laboratory, occupying 5,500 square feet, was completely renovated in 1991. The laboratories include:
The Neural Engineering Center in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at CWRU occupies over 17,000 square ft. of newly renovated laboratory and office space (occupied Jan, 2003), and is dedicated to research and development of knowledge and technology for electrical activation of the nervous system. Laboratory facilities include well-equipped sterile and non-sterile operating rooms including all necessary equipment to conduct pre-clinical studies in animals. A broad range of equipment is available for the proposed laboratory studies. A dedicated laboratory set-up with extensive specialized equipment for study of bladder function is also in place.
